At Silverdaze we are extremely proud of our "Silverdazers" and how they are developing their franchises into successful businesses.
Here are the profiles of some of our Silverdazers.

Silverdaze offer our franchisees a unique business opportunity

Julie has been a Training Specialist for more than 18 years working for large organisations and computer companies. For much of this time Julie was self employed and had gotten used to being her own boss, but due to a change in family circumstances she found herself back in permanent employment and working for an American company. Four years on Julie took the decision to look for alternatives and began researching franchises.

"I wanted to try something different and Silverdaze seemed the ideal franchise for me. I wanted more time to enjoy walking my lovely dog and spending time on our Narrowboat - Phoebe. In fact, I realised that with a Silverdaze Franchise I could sail up and down the canals, selling and advertising Silverdaze Jewellery whilst travelling on board."

Phoebe is currently moored at Shireoaks Marina on the Chesterfield Canal near Worksop, which is beautiful. So if you're after an enjoyable day out, why not pass by, feel free to knock and ask to see a selection of my Jewellery or look out for us on your travels.

Silverdaze offer our franchisees a unique franchise business opportunity

Single mum Debbie has devoted her life to bringing up her son, but now that Joe has become an independent teenager, she has found herself with time to spare. "Once he's done his homework and had dinner, he's off out and some weekends it feels like I hardly see him at all." However, it was whilst in the car with her son and discussing his Business Studies homework that Debbie stumbled upon the idea of a Silverdaze franchise.

The homework involved a woman selling silver jewellery. Discussing the topic Debbie had said, "I would like to do something like that you know!" and Joe replied, "I think that would be good for you mum." A few weeks later, when Debbie had coincidently been helping a colleague research some cleaning franchises, she came across Silverdaze. At home she kept borrowing Joe's lap top and having another look at the website. She has now bought a Silverdaze franchise and we wish her the best of luck for her launch in late November 2009.

Marie who had worked in the Contract Cleaning Industry for the past 25yrs was not looking forward to her forthcoming retirement and thought the prospect of staying at home all day vegetating uninspiring. Somewhere out there had to be something that was not only fulfilling but would also pay for the Indian Ocean Holidays. So when she visited Marilyn Menzies launch party in August 2009 she found something that pressed all the right buttons. "When I walked into the room and viewed the jewellery for the first time it certainly shouted WOW to me" Two weeks later Marie became a Silverdazer!

"I was extremely excited about the new adventure and knew I could make it work. I wanted to get the franchise up and running right away before Christmas, The build up to the launch was very hard work, but with the support from all the Silverdaze team the launch was everything I could have dreamed for, helped in no small part by Diana's presence on all 3 days, her product knowledge and sheer enthusiasm was the icing on the cake and helped produce record breaking sales and unprecedented party bookings."

Parties and events started the very first week after the launch and Marie is now into the full swing of running her own franchise within the Silverdaze community; ably assisted in no small way by her long suffering unpaid admin manager, IT support guru, logistic supervisor and general dogs body....Jim.

Silverdaze offer our franchisees a unique business opportunity

Marilyn, formerly an administrator for a large electronics company who are in the process of closing their Scottish operation, seized this opportunity to pursue a complete change of lifestyle and leave the "9 to 5" world behind. She welcomed the challenge of being her own boss, wanted to share her passion for jewellery with others and most importantly wished to reap the rewards of her own efforts. Marilyn's ambition got off to a flying start when she achieved a record breaking sale at her opening launch in August 2009.

Having received tremendous support from family and friends and enlisting the help of a friend who is a florist and another with a flair for design to make her jewellery look unique and tantalizing; draped from dried flowers and displayed on scattered rose petals, it is no surprise that her launch was such a success! Her greatest asset of the weekend had to be Michael Anderson, the son of her former colleague, who turned out to be a budding young future entrepreneur. Michael, pictured alongside Marilyn, threw himself into the launch quickly learning all aspects of the trade from selling to pricing, to taking control of her credit card machine, party bookings and orders for particular pieces.

Sharon, with a background in mechanical engineering, is an unusual candidate to have become a Silverdazer. As she says herself: "I had ruled out all retail franchises until I came across Silverdaze!" Seeking a better work/life balance Sharon had spent the past 3 years searching for a franchise that would relieve the long commute to work each day, enable her to work closer to home and ultimately allow her flexibility to manage her time more suitably. Silverdaze was the only franchise she found that ticked all the right boxes and Sharon finally joined the Silverdaze team in October 2009.

Sharon currently works in the commercial department of an aircraft asset management company and will return part time at the end of her maternity leave. As the proud mum of two beautiful young daughters, however, Sharon's ultimate ambition is to finally work for herself. "I want to start slowly and build the business up gradually until the time is right for me to make major life changes."

Sarah wasn't looking for a franchise, and certainly wasn't thinking of starting up a business: with a job, two kids, two guinea pigs, two rabbits and a cat, as well as a house to run, she had quite enough on her plate! But that all changed on 11th May 2009 when John bought the Daily Mail. "We don't usually get the paper on a Monday but, for some reason we did that day. Maybe it was fate? I happened to turn to the franchise page and the words 'Direct Selling - it's all about listening' jumped out at me. Then a little inner voice said 'go on, you know you want to'. So I listened!"

"You could have knocked me down with a feather when John's response was 'Yeah, great, let's do it!' but then he does have some background experience of both the jewellery industry and direct selling". Sarah and John signed up in July 2009, and now enjoy an excuse to miss 'Question Time', to get out and make new friends, and are particularly interested in raising money for good causes. "We also want to set a good example for the children, so they don't grow up with the impression that money grows on trees!"

Only a few months into their business, in the coming weeks they have six events (and counting) booked up in one week alone!

Janet joined the company in April 2009, but was no newcomer to Silverdaze. She and her husband Dave first met Diana at a village market in 2004. Whilst Janet was busy browsing through the Jewellery Diana discovered that Dave was a website designer. A year later Diana set up the Silverdaze Franchise, searched out Dave's business card and commissioned him to design her website. Dave continues to manage and update the website to this day.

I had often thought about becoming a Silverdazer, but the catalyst was when my husband's job came under threat and I thought "What can I do to help?" I had started out in IT and became an administrator for a web design company, but I wanted a change of direction and didn't want to feel like I was going backwards. Once I had made the decision I couldn't wait to get started and felt impatient waiting for Diana to return from a buying trip overseas.

Muriel and Charmaine, our first franchisees from north of the border joined Silverdaze in August 2008. Friends for years, their dream has been to go into business together. "We've always dreamed of having a coffee and gift shop, but it's a big step to take when you've never been in business before, especially with all the overheads and other costs. Silverdaze seemed a much safer option for us."

We're fairly decisive people. We did an internet search for 'Ladies in Business' and came across Silverdaze. As soon as we saw the Jewellery we liked the look of it and thought; "We could sell that!" The thing is, we both have very different tastes; I tend to like the large, chunky pieces and Charmaine's tastes are more refined, preferring smaller delicate pieces. Luckily the Silverdaze range is so diverse that it can cater to any preference.

Gill joined Silverdaze in May 2008 with 11 years previous experience in the franchise industry. Working in partnership with her father, until it came time for him to retire, they had successfully operated a franchise in corporate recognition and promotional products. Not being one to sit around, Gill set up a small catering business and then looked for something to supplement her income.

"I wanted a reasonable income and was worried about starting from scratch trying to set up another new venture. I love to be busy and I know that new businesses take time. Having already had experience of a franchise this seemed a good idea. The jewellery just grabbed me and I am now able to combine my love for jewellery with running my own franchise. The things I like best about being a Silverdazer are having a fun, flexible business, having the biggest jewellery box of anyone I know and making lots of new friends!"

Silverdaze - The Jewellery Franchise Company

Julie, who'd worked as a School Administrator for twelve years, had been looking into the possibility of running her own business - something interesting, enjoyable and flexible, that she could build up around her family and other work commitments. She felt very strongly that she could only sell something that she personally believed in and had a passion for. After a great deal of searching, she read an article about Silverdaze on "Which Franchise" and immediately felt that this was something worth pursuing. After meeting with Diana and Richard, viewing the jewellery for herself and attending a Silverdaze sale, she made the decision to join the Silverdaze team and signed up in February 2008.

"I enjoy having a business that provides flexibility and freedom and one that allows me to set my own targets, where my own personal efforts are rewarded. I really enjoy meeting people and I like the fact that I am not confined to one workplace! Most of all though, I love selling the beautiful jewellery and I enjoy the reactions of the customers when they see it. With such an attractive product and enthusiastic support from my family, I am looking forward to establishing Silverdaze in my area and developing a loyal customer base".

Denise and Terry met each other at the painting and decorating firm where Denise is currently office manager. When Terry, company secretary and director, was threatened with redundancy they decided they'd better start looking at other alternatives and so began their search for a business that could afford them a steady income. "We looked at other business opportunities," says Denise, "but they all looked like they involved too much hard work. The thing that attracted me to Silverdaze was the fact that all girls love jewellery and this didn't seem pressurised with endless targets to meet." An advert in the Daily Express in 2007 prompted them to look at a Silverdaze Franchise, which they bought in February 2008.

"I thought it was a good investment," adds Terry, "so put up my redundancy money to buy the business. I used to be Denise's boss and now that we work in partnership I sometimes think I've become the toilet break buddy and donkey that carts her jewellery around when we go to craft fairs, but I still enjoy it. Denise now only works 4 days per week and is hoping in the future to give up her full time job and devote her time to Silverdaze. "We struggled a bit at the beginning having joined in the middle of a recession and now that things are picking up again I'd like to be doing 3 nights a week plus weekends and enjoying a less stressful life."

In October 2007 the Office Furniture Company, where Sandra had worked for almost 20 years, went into voluntary liquidation. Sandra had been a Director of the company for the last decade and suddenly found herself in a job market that deemed her "too old" or "overqualified" for the jobs on the market.

It was a nightmare! I was filled with dread at the possibility of working for people who had less experience than I had acquired over the many years in my profession. I was used to being in control, taking major decisions and running a company. After all these years I just couldn't imagine not being my own boss anymore. It was then that a friend came to the rescue and asked if I'd ever thought about buying a franchise.

After the birth of her first child, in June 2007, Caz realised her full time job as a high street store retail manager would be difficult to return to, so she set about looking for a business she could start up whilst on maternity leave. Two years earlier Caz had attended a local based jewellery party and whilst impressed with the idea, thought their was room for improvement. After months of searching for the right business opportunity Caz came across Silverdaze and felt this was the ideal business for her and contacted Silverdaze straight away! She signed up in November 2007.

"I love the beautiful jewellery and because it's so stunning to look at it sells itself. I love meeting the people at parties and making new friends. My social life has improved as well as my bank balance!"

Avni first discovered Silverdaze on a routine visit to the local library with her children. Enchanted by the "uniqueness" of the Jewellery Avni soon became a regular and loyal customer of Vicky's. A year later in August 2007 Avni made the decision to become a franchisee: "I just love the Jewellery and that's all there is to it!"

"If you believe in any product, you can sell it." That's what I truly believe! From a very early age I was always interested in the family business and desperate to get involved. By the age of seven I had talked my way into my father's shop and soon developed a strong sense of work ethic to the business. I don't think I could ever sit back and do nothing, my husband would prefer that I concentrated on the children and had plenty of leisure time, but that's just not me; I enjoy working. So much so, that when my husband bought his own Coffee Republic franchise, I was there helping him to set up the coffee bar. He now runs his own very successful franchise. After 25 years of working for a major high street bank, the latter 10 on a part-time basis, I decided in January 2009 to dedicate myself to my own franchise.

Ann joined Silverdaze in October 2006 with a wealth of experience gained in partnership with her husband Graham. Having owned a successful Amtrak franchise together for 14 years, they decided to sell the franchise and move on to run their own B & B in Scotland. Since then, they've returned to Sheffield and have renovated and sold 4 houses, but Ann wanted to run a business on her own!

"I spent two years looking for a suitable business without success, then read about Silverdaze in an article in the Daily Mail and rang straight away. A Silverdaze franchise is the perfect choice for an entrepreneurial like me as it enables me to sell a product that I love and still have plenty of time for the golf course. I like being in business and working for myself and I like meeting people. Best of all I like the jewellery".

Mandy, formerly a buyer for Superdrug gave up her position to have children and spend time with them in their formative years. Having sold jewellery at parties on a part time basis, Mandy decided to take it a step further and become a Silverdazer. She joined Silverdaze in October 2005 to take advantage of all the benefits that come from operating under the licence of a successful franchise company. Mandy has become one of our most successful franchisees. Her business has grown rapidly and she now employs a sales team and has developed her business into new areas.

"I love the Jewellery! It's as simple as that! Going to Silverdaze to buy it is like walking into a huge jewellery box, you just can't wait to see it! As for the customers, their reactions make you feel very proud. The best thing of all though is that the Jewellery is so gorgeous, it sells itself!!"

Vicky returned to the UK after 11 years of working as a primary school teacher abroad. Having had a good standard of living in Egypt, she was disappointed at the sort of life style that a teaching salary in England would support. Her mother, the founder of the company, was worried about the long hours Vicky was working and encouraged her to buy a Silverdaze franchise. Vicky became a Silverdaze franchisee in September 2005 and found that she was immediately so busy with parties and sales that she had to reduce her teaching to one day a week.

"I don't have the high stress, heavy commitments or financial constraints that I had before and love the freedom and flexibility that the business gives me. In fact, I love all aspects of the business, from the social side of doing parties and making new friends, to working with the jewellery. The unique and stunning jewellery sells itself and the parties are great fun for everyone! Of course, the financial rewards and having lots of time to indulge my passion for travel, is probably what I appreciate most about being a Silverdazer."
